Recruitment

We cannot wait to meet all the amazing women who will be going through recruitment! Recruitment is a life changing experience that allows potential new members to meet other like-minded women. Even if you are questioning whether Greek life is for you, going through recruitment will help you decide, as well as allow you to make new friends and meet other women in the Muhlenberg community.

The College Panhellenic Council (CPC) is the governing body for the four NPC organizations represented at Muhlenberg College:

Why Go Greek?

Joining a sisterhood provides prospects for personal growth as well as a wonderful support system of real, strong women. The friendships made are life-long bonds and a reassurance that there is always someone to turn to. As so many members of the Panhellenic community can attest, going Greek can open many doors and lead to lifelong friendships.

Leadership experience can be gained through holding an office in whichever organization you choose to join. Each chapter also provides members with philanthropic activities, scholarship and grant opportunities, networking opportunities, ways to meet others in the Greek community, and more!

Formal Recruitment versus Continuous Open Bidding

Formal recruitment occurs at the beginning of the Fall semester at Muhlenberg. Continuous open bidding (COB) occurs after the formal recruitment process has ended and in the Spring semester. Both processes are open to Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors.

Formal recruitment is a larger process in which potential new members are able to meet all the sororities. During this process, you will be assigned a recruitment counselor, and will be guided through the process. There are three days (or rounds) of formal recruitment: philanthropy, sisterhood, and preference. After reach round, a mutual selection process occurs until you receive your bid.

Formal recruitment is not always the right fit for everyone. Continuous open bidding is an informal recruitment process in which sororities hold 1-2 casual events, or you might meet a couple of sisters for coffee. Only sororities that are under chapter total participate in informal recruitment. If you're interested in recruitment, it's important to sign up with the Panhellenic Council, as chapter totals are dictated by the number of women interested in recruitment.

Recruitment Advice

In case you are still nervous, here are some helpful tips:

  1. SIGN UP and give it a chance!

  2. Keep an Open Mind: Every chapter is incredible and has so much to offer members! A positive, unbiased outlook is the best way to approach recruitment. Everyone’s recruitment experience is different!

  3. Be Yourself: We are so excited to meet you and want to get to know who you really are! Let your personality shine!

  4. Trust the Process: Although it might seem confusing at times, you will end up where you are meant to be at the end of recruitment.

  5. Ask Questions: If you ever have questions about any part of the process, ask your Recruitment Counselors. Recruitment Counselors are there to help you through the process and have given up their letters to help you find yours.

  6. Have Fun!
